The Association commenced its 25th Anniversary Year of Celebration with an event for current and former staff and members of the Management Committee in the Cadder Community Centre. The Association also invited our Community Champions who had received their awards for the activities and services to the community in October 2017, as well as a number of original tenants from our stock transfers from Scottish Homes in 1994 and 1998.
The Association’s Director, Kenny Mollins gave a speech to open the event and the Year of Celebration, where he spoke about the residents of Vaila Street who formed a steering group to set up the Association on the 5 April 1993 and secured the transfer of the initial stock transfer in 1994. He identified key leaders of the Management Committee and many of the Association’s achievements throughout the last 25 years.
The Association’s Chairperson, Linda Brown and longest serving staff member, Elaine Haldane unveiled the 25th Anniversary Year Plaque.
Kenny said, ‘The Association has come a long way in the last 25 years which has seen many improvements in our service and regeneration of our area. The 25th Anniversary Year allows us to reflect on these achievements and set the agenda for the coming years to continue to ‘Make Cadder Better’
Linda Brown, Chairperson said, ‘it was good to see current and former committee members and staff getting together to celebrate a major milestone in the Association’s history. These committee and staff members have all played their part in making the Association successful and improving our service, our tenants’ homes and regenerating Cadder, which are our key aims and reflect the reasons for setting up the Association 25 years ago.
The Association will be holding community events in its ‘Year of Celebration’ to mark the anniversary with our tenants and local residents, which will be a:
- Family Fun Day – Saturday 23 June 2018
- Winter Wonderland Event – December 2018.
