Rent consultation – we need your feedback!

At Cadder Housing Association we want to hear you views on the level of our annual rent increase from April 2022.

The Association must set our budget for 2022/23 to ensure that we remain financially viable in the long term and continue to provide the best standard of service we can for all of our residents.  We are therefore trying to keep our increase as low as we can whilst still making sure we have enough money to cover all our current costs and put money aside for future maintenance and investment works.

We are acutely aware that any increase in rents will affect residents’ finances.  We know that the current economic environment is challenging, with rising costs for fuel, food and changes to Universal Credit.

It is assumed in the Association’s Business Plan rent increases would be linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus an additional 0.5%.  Therefore, with September’s CPI being 3.1% the Association would have consulted on a 3.6% rent increase for 2022/23.

However, the Association’s Board has taken into account the impact this would have on residents’ income and is proposing restricting the rent increase to 2.5% for 2022/23.

We are keen to hear your views on the proposed rent increase and would encourage you to complete and return the attached rent survey.  A copy of this survey can also be found at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CHArentconsult21

The rent consultation period is open from 8 November 2021 until 20 December 2021.  All comments received will be reported to the Association’s Board prior to making a decision on any proposed increase.

All replies received will be entered into a prize draw for a £50 ASDA gift voucher.

If you wish to discuss the proposed rent increase in further detail you can contact David Edgar, Housing Manager, on 0141 945 6727.
